Its Friday afternoon and I’m just chomping at the bit to announce the official launch of the Sterling Fleet Outfitters website.

Joomla! 1.5 CMS
Sterling needed to be able to update the website themselves, and to be able to upload documents (pdf files) in order to showcase the products they offered. They also wanted to be able to post News items that would automatically archive. In addition, they wished to have an online form so their clients could contact them via email without disclosing their address online to would-be spammers… smart.
I couldn’t think of a better solution than Joomla! 1.5 CMS. Joomla provides all the usability features Sterling required and much more! They agreed on the product, and the rest is, as they say - history!
We can see the Joomla themed template design is simple & clean. It is very reflective if their brand (blue, white, grey) with colorful content being the focal point of the page. It is very easy to navigate - as their clients range from the not-so-internet savvy to very savvy.
Thanks to my business associate and friend Rastin Mehr at rmdStudio.com for setting up Joomla! 1.5 CMS on Sterling’s server/hosting account.
Congratulations Sterling on your new internet presence! I’ll see you next week for Joomla training! It was truly a delight to work with you - I wish you much success in all your endeavors!

I’m very happy to announce that the Vancouver Joomla! Day event was well attended with over 120 people eager to learn about Joomla! CMS.

Registration started at 9:00am. Attendees were given a raffle ticket, t-shirt (for those who RSVP’d in time) and Joomla! Day name tag. What a friendly bunch! I got to meet each of them as I assisted Wendy (main organizer) with the registration process.
Coffee, tea muffins and cookies were in abundance thanks to Bread Garden, who also catered lunch with yummy wraps and subs.

Joomla! CMS is one of the most powerful Open Source content management systems (CMS) on the planet. Joomla! is easy to manage, reliable to use, and is very popular with those of my clients using it.
The newest version of Joomla (version 1.5) is an ideal platform for building Corporate websites, Intranets and Social Networks.
So, it is with great pleasure that I make this announcement: Vancouver is officially hosting a Joomla! Day event - one of Joomla’s largest and most popular events!

As a sponsor and event organizer, you can probably imagine how excited I am to spread the word, and even more so… to invite you to join us.

This past Wednesday, myself, along with rmd Studio, PeerGlobe and Tazzu, and hosted Vancouver’s first WordPress Camp.

Thanks to Amanda Abrams for this great photo!
We initially estimated around 35 - 40 people attending the event, located at the beautiful Network Hub. However, word got out, and a week before the event, RSVPs starting flooding in - yeah, I commenced to panic!
Phone calls were quickly made to locate a larger venue, but with such short notice none could be found, so we all just ‘pressed’ in.
